What is chipboard (PAL) and what is it used for?<\/strong><\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Chipboard (PAL \u2013 particleboard) is made from finely chopped wood chips mixed with adhesive and hot-pressed. The most common finish for chipboard is a melamine coating on both sides, which is why it\u2019s often referred to as melamine-faced chipboard.<\/p>

Advantages of chipboard (PAL):<\/h4>

* Melamine provides a wide range of colors and textures, from realistic wood imitations to solid colors or more decorative, fantasy-style finishes.
* It has a relatively easy processing method and a shorter manufacturing time.
* Ideal for custom furniture on a lower budget, provided there is no high humidity.<\/p>

Disadvantages of chipboard (PAL):<\/h4>

* Sensitivity to moisture.

What is MDF and what is it used for?<\/strong><\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) is manufactured in a similar way to chipboard (PAL), but with the difference that the composite wood is ground much more finely before pressing. MDF has a higher density than chipboard and a much smoother surface.<\/p>

Advantages of MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard):<\/h4>

* High hardness, yet a low expansion\/contraction rate compared to solid wood.
* The hard and smooth surface allows for routing or embossed cutting of various patterns on fronts, making it possible to achieve distinctive and detailed shapes;
* The absence of edge banding gives it a seamless look and makes it easier to maintain;
* Moisture resistance and long lifespan \u2013 painted MDF has excellent resistance to bending and screwing, and its swelling values after prolonged contact with water are significantly better than those of other wood-based materials;
* Recommended for bathroom and kitchen furniture, where painted MDF offers exceptional durability.
* It can be repainted if the surface has been scratched or damaged.
* It allows bending, making it possible to create curved furniture pieces.<\/p>

Disdvantages of MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard):<\/h4>

* Higher costs compared to chipboard due to more complex and time-consuming processing;
